Aaron Ramsdale, 26, has transferred from Arsenal to Southampton for an initial fee of £18 million, with the potential for an additional £1 million based on Southampton’s performance this season. If certain conditions are met, the total deal could rise to £25 million through achievable add-ons.
Ramsdale, who joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in the summer of 2021, had a notable impact during his two seasons with the club. He was well-regarded by fans and earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year for the 2022/23 season. However, his role at Arsenal became uncertain following the arrival of David Raya, who has since made his move permanent.
Over his tenure at Arsenal, Ramsdale made 89 appearances. Reflecting on the transfer, Arsenal Sporting Director Edu Gaspar expressed satisfaction with the deal, stating, “We are pleased to conclude a positive deal with Southampton, and we wish Aaron all the best.”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also praised Ramsdale, saying, “Aaron has been a top professional since his arrival in 2021 and has made significant contributions. We thank him for his efforts and wish him and his family all the best in his new role with Southampton.”
