The mobile police officer who was abducted near Kampani community in Bashar District, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State has been found dead. The incident occurred last Wednesday evening while the officer and a soldier were traveling from Zurak community to Kampani.
The two security personnel were ambushed by bandits. The soldier managed to escape, but the policeman was taken captive. The officer was part of a team addressing banditry in the region, which borders Taraba State.
Sources in Wase confirmed to Daily Trust that the officer’s body was discovered in a bush at Bangalala on Sunday. The Plateau State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
### Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner and Wife Released
In related news, Patrick Mba, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, and his wife have been freed after being abducted on Friday. The couple was taken by unknown gunmen along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while en route to Abuja for a wedding event.
A government official, speaking anonymously, confirmed their release to Punch on Saturday night. The official expressed gratitude for their safe return and indicated that the state government will soon provide a formal statement on the matter.
