Civil Society Groups for Good Governance has conferred on the Acting Director General of PenCom, Aisha Dahir-Umar its prestigious certificate of Performance in recognition of her outstanding leadership qualities and performance in the Pension Industry
The President of the Group, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic, during the presentation on Monday, described Aisha Dahir-Umar as a woman of inestimable value, an icon of excellence, a great leader whose commitment and consistent hard work, team work and innovative ideas had made her emerge top on several fronts of patriotic service and leadership.
Ogakwu in his address, said; “Achievement and success aren’t by accidents as breakthrough comes only when an individual puts in hours of consistent hard work, team work and new ideas; It is with great joy that Civil Society Groups for Good Governance (CSGGG), present this Certificate of Performance to you; our efforts and considerations in presenting this certificate is to enhance a robust interface between the civil society on one hand and the public‐service on the other.
“Our COP is to applaud you for your consistent commitment in actualizing the vision and mission of PenCom which involves prompt payment of retirement benefits, promoting a sustainable pension industry that positively impacts on the economic development of Nigeria and being an effective regulator and supervisor that ensures the safety of pension assets and fair return on investment utilizing appropriate technology, with highly skilled and motivated staff.
“As an umbrella body and cerebral resource centre for over 180 CSOs averse to unmerited commendation, we have beamed our lens of scrutiny on your administration as the Director General of PenCom and we can boldly say that at your career milestone, we honor you for the entire great feat you have achieved and yet to; with the firm believe that this will spur you to more enviable height as this recognition in itself is a recommendation for higher national responsibility.
“We sincerely appreciate your commitment to the Pension Industry, Mrs Aisha Dahir-Umar; you are a valuable leader to PenCom, a treasure to Nigeria and a role Model to the Civil Society.”He added.
On the achievements which earned the Acting Director General the certificate of performance, Ogakwu revealed that after an independent assessment by the group, the achievement Rescuing Data Challenge at PenCom with Technology through the introduction of an Enhanced Contributory Registration System (ECRS) in a bid to solve the lurking challenges faced by pensioners with the Existing Contributor Registration System (CRS), diligently working to achieve an increase in the contributory scheme which was N8.74trillion in 2019 to above N10trillion in just almost the first quarter of 2020, a course which has transformed the pace of the country’s socio-economic development and finally ensured that Infrastructure is Adequately Suited for Pension Funds, examples like the ARM Harith Fund that invested in Azura-Edo Independent Power Plant (IPP) Project in Edo State and Afri plus Fund that invested in the Constructions of 1,200 hostel rooms in University of Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
Meanwhile the Head, Corporate Communications, Mr Peter Aghahowa, who received the certificate on behalf of the Ag- DG, appreciated the effort put in place to present such certificate as he lauded the group for taking time to carry out an assessment and arriving at a fruitful finding deserving of a certificate of performance.
Aghahowa however promised a robust relationship with the civil society and assured that the Pension Industry will always be committed to its mandate in a bid to achieve great results.
