Interim Super Eagles manager Augustine Eguavoen has appointed Fidelis Ilechukwu and Daniel Ogunmodede as assistant coaches for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
According to a statement from Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications for the Nigeria Football Federation, Ilechukwu, who is the head coach of Enugu Rangers, and Ogunmodede of Remo Stars, will assist Eguavoen during these crucial fixtures. Ilechukwu led Enugu Rangers to victory in Nigeria’s top division last season, while Ogunmodede’s Remo Stars finished in second place.
Joining the coaching team in Uyo will be Tomaz Zorec, a fitness trainer from Slovenia; goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa; and match analyst Eboboritse Uwejamomere.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to arrive in Uyo on Monday to start preparations for their match against Benin Republic, which will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday at 5 p.m. Following this, the team will travel to Kigali on Sunday for their Matchday 2 clash against Rwanda, set to be held at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
