Sean “Diddy” Combs, the renowned hip-hop mogul, was arrested in New York on Monday after a federal grand jury issued an indictment. The indictment remains sealed, but U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed Combs is in custody. Details are expected to be disclosed when the indictment is unsealed.
Combs was apprehended at a Manhattan hotel lobby, according to sources. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, criticized the prosecution, calling the charges unjust. Agnifilo highlighted Combs’ cooperation with the investigation and his relocation to New York for legal proceedings. He emphasized Combs’ reputation as a music legend and family man, urging the public to withhold judgment until all facts are known.
Agnifilo asserted Combs’ intention to prove his innocence in court, stating, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
The arrest follows a federal investigation initiated in March, which involved Homeland Security agents raiding Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami. Combs has previously faced accusations of sexual misconduct, and his legal team has criticized the raids as excessive and the allegations as baseless.
