Iran has resumed flights at its airports after a brief suspension triggered by a missile attack on Israel. State media reported that operations were grounded for security reasons following the launch of 200 missiles at Israel on Tuesday evening. This marked Iran’s second direct attack on its long-time adversary, following an earlier missile and drone strike in April.
Flights were halted until 5:00 AM local time (01:30 GMT) on Thursday, with Jafar Yazarloo, spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, confirming the lifting of restrictions. He stated, “After ensuring favourable and safe flight conditions and ending of the restrictions, airlines are allowed to carry out flight operations,” as reported by the official IRNA news agency.
Meanwhile, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has advised European airlines to avoid Iranian airspace until October 31, pending a review of the situation. Similar warnings were issued for Israel and Lebanon over the weekend.
