Mikel Obi, former Chelsea midfielder, has expressed his strong desire to see Victor Osimhen join Chelsea. Mikel revealed in a video posted on X that he and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba are both working to persuade the Napoli striker to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
Osimhen, who has requested a transfer from Napoli, has been heavily linked with Chelsea, especially with the possibility of Romelu Lukaku moving the other way. Despite Chelsea’s significant summer acquisitions, including Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, they are reportedly keen to add Osimhen to their squad for the 2024/25 season.
Mikel emphasized Osimhen’s potential impact, likening him to Erling Haaland in terms of goal-scoring ability. He is hopeful that Chelsea fans will soon see Osimhen in their colors. Mikel plans to actively encourage the striker to prioritize Chelsea, with Drogba also offering his support and insights about the club.
Despite interest from several top European clubs, including Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Liverpool, the €130m price tag on Osimhen has deterred some suitors. Currently, Chelsea appears to be the front-runner in securing his signature.
