Popular skit maker and actor Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, known as Mr. Macaroni, has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video in which children reenact his well-known “Daddy Wa” skit.
In the video, the children were dressed in adult-like attire, portraying roles that mirrored Mr. Macaroni’s sugar daddy character, an interested young lady, and his wife. The skit sparked outrage among netizens, who criticized it as inappropriate for young children.
In response to the backlash, Mr. Macaroni took to social media platform X to urge parents and guardians to exercise caution when involving children in content creation. He highlighted the necessity of showcasing children’s talents in age-appropriate ways, emphasizing their well-being and guidance over the pursuit of viral fame.
His statement read: “Dear parents and guardians, I understand the urge to want to make the most out of our uniquely talented children. I, however, strongly believe that we must apply caution while doing so. We must showcase their talents in ways appropriate for their respective ages. We must put our children first and groom them right. That way, we are able to develop the durability and longevity of their talent as opposed to a short viral moment. We owe them and our society that guidance. My love always.”
