Newcastle United have secured the signing of Nigerian striker William Osula from Sheffield United. Despite the latter’s recent relegation to the Championship, Osula’s potential has attracted considerable attention. During his time at Sheffield United, Osula made 31 appearances and scored three goals.
Osula has also represented Denmark at the Under-21 level, earning five caps for the national team. His move to Newcastle United reflects the club’s confidence in his abilities and future prospects. In expressing his excitement about the transfer, Osula stated, “It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United.”
Newcastle United’s manager, Eddie Howe, revealed that the club had been monitoring Osula for the past three years, thanks to a recommendation from assistant manager Jason Tindall. Howe praised Osula’s potential, saying, “He’s a player I’ve known since JT’s [Jason Tindall’s] time at Sheffield United. We’ve been tracking him for three years and he excites us. He has all the raw ingredients to become a great centre-forward.”
Osula’s signing is part of a busy summer for Newcastle United, marking their sixth acquisition. The club has already added several notable players to their roster, including Miodrag Pivas, Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy, Lloyd Kelly, and Lewis Hall.
Although Osula currently plays for Denmark’s Under-21 team, he remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria, reflecting his dual heritage and potential future contributions to Nigerian football.
