This assertion was made at the Directorate of Army Public Relations study period and the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information Workshop 2024, held in Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri Abuja.
Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, represented by Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, emphasized that modern warfare is won or lost in the media domain, thereby stressing the importance of maintaining seamless collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the media.
The Army Chief acknowledged the notable successes achieved by the Nigerian Army and military in joint operations nationwide through effective media collaboration.
The workshop aimed to harness the media’s potential for effective military operations and address security challenges.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, highlighted the importance of positive narratives and strengthening the relationship between the media and the military. He emphasized the critical role of information managers in galvanizing support for the Armed Forces.
Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde, the Acting Commandant, NASPRI, stressed the need for collaboration with the media to promote the right narratives and messaging.
The 5-day workshop brought together Public Relations Officers, Commanding Officers, Defence Correspondents, and media stakeholders to deliberate on the dynamics of the digital media space.
