The National Orientation Agency (NOA) office in Bauchi State has urged relevant authorities to consistently promote and share the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) predictions, especially in areas prone to flooding. The appeal was made by the State Director of NOA Bauchi, Theresa Omaga, in a statement shared on the agency’s official Facebook page.
Omaga emphasized the importance of individuals, particularly those providing essential services in flood-affected areas, staying informed about recent NiMet predictions. This ensures timely updates and allows for proactive measures to mitigate risks. She further warned residents, particularly farmers and those living in riverine areas, to be cautious due to the persistent rainfall causing elevated water levels and subsequent flooding in many communities.
The statement advised residents to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas. If travel is necessary, the agency recommended using elevated routes and avoiding water-covered streets, as the depth and hazards of floodwaters can be unpredictable. NOA Bauchi also highlighted that while some areas may experience drought, there is no need to panic, as rain is expected to continue, possibly until November.
The agency promised to closely monitor the situation and provide updates and guidance as conditions evolve.NOA Bauchi Urges Continuous Promotion of NiMet Predictions Amid Flooding Concerns
