Former lawmaker and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Nnam Robinson Ewoh, has leveled serious accusations against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State. In a recent interview with Symfoni TV, Ewoh described Wike as a “destroyer” of the PDP and suggested that he has consistently relied on violence and manipulation to secure electoral victories.
Ewoh’s comments come amid growing tensions within the political landscape of Rivers State, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict between Wike and the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Ewoh emphasized that discussions surrounding Wike have diminished among the residents of Rivers State, indicating a shift in public sentiment. He expressed confidence that Governor Fubara would successfully secure re-election in 2027, regardless of Wike’s political maneuvers.
“Wike, from history, is a destroyer. He has destroyed the PDP and everyone he supported. So Wike cannot bring anything good or new to this state,” Ewoh asserted, underscoring his belief that Wike’s leadership has been detrimental to the party’s success.
Ewoh further claimed that Wike has never achieved electoral victories through popular support, suggesting that electoral outcomes have been manipulated in his favor. “For Wike to win elections, they have to write results for him. He has never won an election by popular vote. Wike does not believe in elections, and he cannot participate in any popular election,” he stated.
In response to the rift between Wike and Governor Fubara, Ewoh maintained that Wike’s influence would not be a determining factor in the upcoming election. “Whether Wike is there or not, it is immaterial. What will determine Governor Fubara’s return in 2027 are Rivers votes, not Wike’s vote. Wike has a single vote, and that cannot make the governor lose the election,” he emphasized.
Ewoh also reflected on the decline of the PDP since Wike’s emergence as a key player within the party. “Since Wike began playing a key role in the PDP, the party started declining. He has never been a success story for the PDP. Wike has been a disaster for the PDP,” Ewoh declared.
As political dynamics continue to evolve in Rivers State, Ewoh’s remarks signal a clear discontent with Wike’s leadership and a belief that the future of the PDP may depend on distancing itself from figures like Wike. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, Ewoh is optimistic that Governor Fubara will successfully navigate the political landscape and secure a second term in office, stating firmly, “Fubara will surely do his second term. Nobody is discussing Wike in this state.”
