The Katsina State Police Command successfully thwarted three separate kidnapping attempts by suspected armed bandits in the Danmusa and Faskari local government areas, rescuing eight victims unharmed.
According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the incidents occurred on October 7, 2024.
The statement detailed that at approximately 11 AM, armed bandits intercepted two women on the outskirts of Matarau village in Danmusa LGA, attempting to abduct them. In another incident on the same day, the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters received distress calls regarding armed bandits blocking the Marabar Bangori-Unguwar Boka area along the Funtua-Gusau road, leading to the kidnapping of four individuals around 10:30 AM.
Additionally, at around 2:30 PM, another group of bandits targeted the Unguwar Kafa junction along the Yankara-Faskari road, abducting two women and their children.
Upon receiving reports of the incidents, police operatives quickly mobilized to the scenes, engaging the assailants in a gunfire exchange that forced the bandits to flee, abandoning the kidnapped victims, all of whom were rescued uninjured. The attackers reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their bravery and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
