Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, representing Kano South, has urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State not to prioritize the interests of former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso over those of the people. Sumaila’s warning comes amidst rumors within the Kwankwasiyya Movement and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) that Kwankwaso holds undue sway over the current administration.
Speaking in Abuja, Sumaila emphasized that the governor risks alienating millions of Kano citizens if he fails to serve their interests. He also stressed the importance of uniting with Kwankwaso in a way that benefits the public.
“Betraying over 20 million people would be unforgivable,” Sumaila warned, highlighting the need for inclusivity. He urged the governor to remember that his administration should serve not only Kwankwaso’s followers but also those of the NNPP, APC, PDP, and smaller parties.
Sumaila’s comments reflect growing concerns over the governor’s leadership priorities and the balance of power in Kano State.
