Deborah Abiodun, the rising star of the Super Falcons, has made a significant mark in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer tournament while playing for the University of Pittsburgh. The 21-year-old midfielder was named to the Second Team All-ACC, securing her place as one of the top-ranked players for the second consecutive season. Her impressive performances helped Pitt finish the regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-5-2 record in conference play.
Abiodun’s journey to recognition has been remarkable, especially after missing six games due to injury before the start of ACC play. She made an impressive comeback by scoring her first goal of the season in a win over Clemson on October 3, 2024. Her standout performance came ten days later when she scored a brace, leading Pitt to a 3-0 victory over Syracuse. She also scored Pitt’s only goal in a 1-0 win over Florida State and led the Panthers with four goals in ACC play.
This marks her second consecutive All-ACC honor, following her recognition in 2023 as a Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team selection. Abiodun was also recently named PNC Achiever of the Week after scoring a brace in Pitt’s victory over Syracuse, with both goals coming from corners.
Before moving to the U.S., Abiodun began her professional career with Rivers Angels in the Nigerian Women’s Football League, where her standout performances attracted attention and ultimately earned her a scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh.
