Thierry Henry has officially stepped down as the head coach of the France Under-21 national team, according to an announcement by the French Football Federation on Monday. The decision to resign was attributed to “personal reasons.”
The resignation was also confirmed by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who reported that Henry had chosen to terminate his contract with the team for personal reasons.
Henry, a legendary forward known for his stints with Arsenal and Barcelona, took over as the manager of the France U21 team in 2023. His tenure included leading the team to the finals of the 2024 Olympics, where they earned a silver medal after losing to Spain.
Henry’s unexpected departure concludes a brief but notable period with the U21 team, highlighting the challenges and pressures faced in high-profile coaching roles.
