Premier League giants Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping a close eye on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, currently with Atalanta, as they consider potential moves for him next summer. Scouts from these clubs attended Atalanta’s recent UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal, specifically to assess Lookman’s performance, according to TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey.
The scouts aimed to evaluate both Lookman and Ederson, whom they had monitored during the previous summer transfer window. Lookman has been in exceptional form, netting 33 goals and providing 19 assists in 81 competitive matches since his arrival at Atalanta. His contributions were vital in securing Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League qualification after winning the UEFA Europa League last season.
Notably, Lookman scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final, a remarkable feat not accomplished since Jupp Heynckes in 1975. His outstanding performances throughout the 2023/24 season have garnered interest from several clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus.
After missing the initial two matches of the season, Lookman returned strongly, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his first match back. At just 26, he is poised for continued growth, and if he maintains his impressive form, significant interest in him during the next transfer window is expected.
