ACF decry killings in the North, says “It is getting too late”

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has expressed great concern over the rising insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

It condemned in strong terms the endless killings in the North.

ACF spokesman, Emmanuel Yawe, in a statement urged President Muhammadu Buhari to live up to his oath of office.

The forum expressed concern that gunmen invaded Ahamadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State at 12:50 pm and abducted three members of a family.

The statement noted that while the wife and a daughter of a worker of the university later escaped following a gun battle between the kidnappers and the police, the university worker was taken away by the bandits.

Recall that on Saturday nine students of the university abducted were released.

The students from the Department of French, were travelling to Lagos for a programme at the Nigerian French Language Village (NFLV) in Badagry when they were abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna road last Sunday by gunmen.

While reviewing the kidnapping cases in the north, the ACF expressed anger over the spate of insecurity in the region.

The forum pointedly directed the anger at President Muhammadu Buhari over the sundry attacks by bandits in the region in recent times.

The statement also condemned the Police Affairs Minister, Muhammad Dingyadi, for saying that the activities of bandits had been checked in the North.

It stated that there was no need to call on President Buhari to live up to his oath of office, adding that he knows more than anybody else the implications of swearing on the Quran and refusing to honour the oath to the Almighty.

ACF said they were only for the umpteenth time conveying the anger and frustrations of many northerners to him so that he would do the needful and speedily too.

“It is getting too late,” the statement noted.
