Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has voiced his concerns over the growing trend of fake miracles being showcased on social media, which he believes mock the Christian faith. In an Instagram post on September 18, 2024, Ogbonna condemned pastors who engage in fraudulent practices, stating, “Fake miracles are mocking Christianity.”
The actor expressed his dismay at how such deceptive acts exploit vulnerable people, saying, “These acts stain the true essence of Christianity, turning faith into a spectacle for selfish gain.” He emphasized that the manipulation of faith for profit has led to broken trust and manipulated beliefs.
Ogbonna called on those involved in these deceitful practices to reflect on their actions and urged victims to remember that true miracles do not stem from deception. He also criticized the use of Christianity for viral content on social media, stating that faith should not be exploited for likes or views.
In his post, the actor called on both the government and religious organizations, such as the Christian Association of Nigeria, to regulate and hold those responsible for fake miracles accountable. “Christianity is about truth, love, and humility—not fraud, manipulation, or mockery,” Ogbonna concluded, encouraging believers to protect the integrity of their faith.
