Former Minister of Aviation, Senator Stella Oduah, was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged graft. The charges pertain to her time as Aviation Minister from 2011 to 2014 and involve an allegation of laundering public funds totaling about N5 billion, allegedly done in collaboration with eight others.
During the arraignment, Oduah and the other defendants pleaded not guilty to the 25 counts brought against them by the EFCC. The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, subsequently ordered the office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) to take over the prosecution of the case.
Justice Ekwo cited the controversy surrounding the case as the reason for transferring it to the AGF’s office to ensure a diligent prosecution of the defendants. The case involves a total of nine defendants, including Oduah’s former aide, Gloria Odita, and several companies.
With the AGF now taking charge of the case, the public awaits further developments as the legal proceedings unfold.
