The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has refuted claims suggesting his involvement in a planned protest against Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Recently, a group of youths from the state, operating under the banner of Ondo Youth and Masses Conscience, voiced concerns about an alleged plan by individuals loyal to Aiyedatiwa to stage a protest due to Akeredolu’s absence in the state.
The State Coordinator of the youth group, Adetunji Benjamin, asserted that this plan aimed to depict Akeredolu as incapacitated and hidden away from public view by his family and associates.
However, Aiyedatiwa, in a statement he personally signed in Akure, disavowed any connection with the purported protesters, emphasizing that he was not behind the planned demonstration. He further explained that he had no knowledge of such a protest and had not granted his endorsement to any group or association to carry out public demonstrations.
The deputy governor also expressed his commitment to the ongoing reconciliation efforts by the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the political situation in the state, which is making strides toward restoring peace. He urged state security operatives to continue ensuring that the people of Ondo State can go about their daily activities without disruption.
