Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has emphasized the importance of maintaining romance in marriage, even amidst spiritual responsibilities. In a recent Facebook post, Adeboye shared that he and his wife, Foluke, still nurture their love with pet names, reinforcing his belief that “anointing does not reduce romance.”
He urged married couples, especially pastors, to prioritize intimacy, stating, “Don’t let romance die.” Adeboye highlighted that some pastors avoid romantic activities, perceiving them as distractions from their spiritual duties. However, he stressed that spiritual anointing should not overshadow the need for romance.
Citing the biblical example of Isaac and Rebekah, he noted that even anointed individuals can enjoy playful interactions. “The fact that you are a Christian does not take the romance out of your marriage,” he said. He encouraged couples to rekindle their connection by spending quality time together, composing poems, and using affectionate pet names.
Adeboye shared personal insights, stating, “When we are alone, we are lovers, not Daddy G.O. and Mummy G.O.” He encouraged couples to be intentional in nurturing their relationship, suggesting small gestures like writing love notes or surprising each other.
His concluding message was clear: “Your marriage can be like heaven on earth if you and your spouse are deliberate about remaining the lovebirds that you were when you first got married. Don’t let the romance die.”
