Paul Ibe, media aide to former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, has expressed concerns over the worsening economic conditions under President Bola Tinubu. Ibe likened the current hardships to a more extreme version of the difficulties experienced under former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as “Buhari pro-max.”
In a statement released on Sunday, Ibe criticized the Tinubu administration for failing to address the significant challenges facing Nigerians, suggesting that the government’s lack of acknowledgment of these issues points to poor preparedness for governance. He argued that the difficulties encountered under Buhari have intensified under Tinubu’s leadership.
The statement reads: “The hardships we are witnessing now are a heightened version of what was seen under Buhari. The previous administration had its flaws, including economic mismanagement and high levels of nepotism and corruption. However, the situation has seemingly deteriorated under the current government.”
Ibe highlighted ongoing issues such as food insecurity and questioned the management of significant investments, like the Dangote Refinery. He expressed skepticism about the administration’s ability to resolve the nation’s problems, stating, “With the current state of affairs, it seems there is no clear plan from this government to address our pressing issues.”
