Nigerian singer Oluwatobiloba Daniel, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has been released by Tanzanian Police just hours after he was arrested for failing to perform at a scheduled concert. This development follows an incident where angry fans expressed their frustration by causing disruptions at the concert venue.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) disclosed this news on Monday evening through its official Twitter account. They stated, “His legal team will, however, report back to the police tomorrow while he will subsequently return to Nigeria.”
Kizz Daniel’s arrest took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he was held at the Oyster Bay Police Station, Civil Police, after not showing up for a paid performance.
A viral video captured someone suggesting that the artist would face consequences for canceling the concert, leading to his arrest.
Kizz Daniel had been scheduled to perform as part of his Afro Classic World Tour at the Warehouse, Old Nextdoor Arena in Tanzania on Sunday night. However, his failure to appear led to fans expressing their disappointment, and footage of fans causing disruptions at the event circulated online.
Subsequent videos on Twitter showed Kizz Daniel, wearing a hooded jacket, being escorted into a police vehicle. An angry voice in the background was heard saying, “You will go in for it. You’ve caused damage in this country. I warned you yesterday.”
Kizz Daniel’s release marks a turn of events in this incident, and further details about the situation may emerge as his legal team interacts with Tanzanian authorities.
