Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), has emphasized that the best way to pay tribute to the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who sacrificed their lives in defense of the country is to continue sustained joint air, ground, and maritime strikes against terrorists, insurgents, economic saboteurs, and other non-state actors.
The CAS commended the Air Component Commanders of various joint theatres of operation for the successful air strikes conducted at the beginning of the year 2024. He specifically mentioned recent air interdiction strikes near Lake Chad, where several terrorists were eliminated, and their vehicles and structures destroyed.
While acknowledging that the nation can never fully repay the fallen heroes, the CAS stressed the importance of sustaining efforts to restore peace and tranquility across the country. He mentioned that the commitment and dedication of the fallen heroes played a crucial role in maintaining peace in the past.
Air Marshal Abubakar noted that the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has provided the necessary resources for the armed forces to succeed in their mandate. He urged the armed forces to maintain the momentum of their operations and instill confidence in citizens to go about their businesses without fear.
The CAS also called on all Nigerians to express gratitude, goodwill, solidarity, and unrelenting prayers for the fallen heroes and their families. He emphasized that such gestures would honor the sacrifices of the patriots and reassure those still in service that the country would not forget their sacrifices.
