Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for allegedly threatening to “set fire” to states governed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors. Wike made the comments during the PDP state congress in Port Harcourt, where he warned PDP governors to stay out of Rivers State politics.
In a press conference on Thursday, Clark condemned Wike’s remarks, describing them as “flagrant disrespect” toward President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him as Minister. Clark labeled Wike’s words as “unbridled” and potentially treasonous, arguing that such rhetoric could incite violence in the country.
Clark referenced past arrests of activists, including African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and #EndBadGovernance protesters, for similar offenses. He urged the IGP to take immediate action against Wike and compel him to retract his statements, stressing that no one should be above the law.
