Five individuals have been summoned by a Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, following a Direct Criminal Complaint filed by Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, the husband of renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The complaint, led by legal representation from Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq., alleges criminal defamation against the reputation of Mercy Chinwo and her husband.
The accused individuals, identified as Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, DJ Spoiltkid, Terrence Ekot, and Samuel Agozie, are being summoned for their purported involvement in circulating injurious falsehoods, cyber bullying, and cyberstalking aimed at the couple. They are scheduled to appear before the court on April 23, 2024.
This legal action comes after a previous petition lodged by gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, seeking investigation and prosecution of individuals who falsely accused him of fathering Mercy Chinwo’s child. The petition, submitted on April 1, 2024, cited criminal defamation and cyberstalking against Bassey by four social media users, including Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot, and DJ Spoiltkid.
