In recognition of his sterling performance, accountability, excellence and transparency in Public Stewardship, the Center for Peace Transparency and Accountability CPTA, on Tuesday, presented the Acting Director General of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps, Mr. Shehu Mohammed its “Distinguished Service Award”.
Ambassador Myke Ngbe representing the Executive Director of the group, Comrade Patrick Ogheneyero, during the presentation described Mohammed Shehu as a man of inestimable value, an icon of excellence, a great man with wit and vision; whose consistency in assisting the DG to deliver the mandate of the directorate has contributed to nations building.
Amb. Myke emphasized that with Mr. Shehu Mohammed at the helms of affair in the directorate despite the covid-19 pandemic effect, the directorate, has continued to promote cooperation and understanding between Nigerian and beneficiary countries and facilitate meaningful contacts between the youths of Nigeria and those of the recipient countries.
He said; “The CPTA Distinguished Service Award isn’t a regular award; it is given after a thorough independent assessment of an individual/ organization is carried out’’ suffice to say that after a complete assessment CPTA, finds Mr. Shehu Mohammed worthy of one.”
“As an organisation averted to unmerited commendation, we are pleased to commend and announce that Mr. Shehu came out in shining colours, after a painstaking assessment in view of all nation-building indices, as an exemplary ambassador of quality and performing leadership” he added.
“Not many are aware of the commendable duties performed by the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps, after beaming our lens of scrutiny on the directorate, we were totally amaze and have vowed to continuously bring to limelight and sensitize the general public of the activities of the directorate through collaborations and subsequent partnerships.”
In appreciation, Mr. Shehu Mohammed who doubles as the Minister Councilor and Foreign Service Officer, expressed shock that the group recognized the directorate, and also found it worthy of an award noting that they have faced a lot of criticism in the course of delivering the job, he noted that the although he knows and recognize the existence of the civil society organisation, he however didn’t know that there are such awards to celebrate performing leaders.
He said “We render manpower assistance to needy countries which is the key activities of the directorate for examples countries like Africa, Carribean and the Pacific. We are currently in Jamaica, Belize and other countries, we have indeed achieved a lot under the leadership of the Director General, Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi.
“This is a positive development and by the grace of God, we shall by all means continue to liase with CSO’s to sensitize Nigerians on the activities of the directorate to enhance and achieve a strategic development for the nation.” Shehu said.
