The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance CSGGG is set to collaborate with the Federal Inland Revenue Service to sensitize Nigerians on the transparency measures emplaced in tax collections and accounting.
In a statement made available to Newsmen on Monday, President of the group, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic revealed that CSGGG an umbrella body of over 186 CSO’s has jointly put in efforts with FIRS to ensure that Nigerians are fully involved and aware on how taxation in the country operates.
He said; “Our collective effort with the FiRS is aimed at creating an avenue where Nigerians will be re-oriented and fully involved in the measures taken by the tax agencies to ensure that taxes they pay is used to boost the dwindling economic situation in the country”
“The program will streamline the major challenges faced by the FIRS in revenue mobilizations, Also measuring and analyzing “compliance gaps” is a powerful first step to addressing non compliance and reducing them can raise significant amount.” He added.
The event themed; Assessing the Transparency Measures Emplaced by The Federal Inland Revenue Service for efficiency in Tax Collection, Accounting and Further promotion Tax Compliance among Citizenry” scheduled to hold on Tuesday October 15th at Rockview hotel Wuse 2, will have a lot of dignitaries in attendance.
Ogakwu finally added that the seminar will bridge the lacuna between the citizens and the tax agencies as questions will be raised and answers duly given.
