Elated by the development, Dr. Anthonia expressed immense gratitude that she was found worthy to receive a certificate of performance, she disclosed that as servant of the people, the department her team has maximum respect for the people, as it is appropriate that when serving someone you have to ensure that the person gets the value in return.
Dr Anthonia explained that achieving great feats requires a good team and she is blessed to have one, she stated that although the department was deserted like a wilderness, they were able to prove that in every wilderness there is surely an oasis.
She said: I am grateful for this certificate, for three years the Road Transport and Mass Transit Administration department have been able to fasttrack an interface with the government and the people as far as road sector is concerned.
“On the international level, We are also working with the United Nations for road safety issues and also on environmental issues pertaining to fuel emission and the Federal Executive Council, has given us the mandate to ensure that whatever we are doing is naturalized, so that we will pull out of circulation vehicles using fuel and diesel and substitute it with compressed natural gas and solar.
“We are set to define the content of the road and it’s usability and then advise those who construct to perform; we are currently liaising with other ministries to ensure that we achieve all of these and more.”
Dr. Anthonia emphasized on the need for continuous interface between the Civil Society Groups and the Ministry of transport both in international environment and within.
Speaking further, Ogakwu thanked the director for her humility and assured her that CSGGG is very open to future interface with the ministry as the group intends to bridge the lacuna infringing real information accessibility from the ministry to the public. He believes that such interaction will help balance the views of the people.
In addition, the General Coordinator of Guardians for Democracy and Executive Director of Empowerment for Unemployed Youths Initiative, Mr Adodo Solomon applauded the director’s disposition to service, citing how some public servant relate with people in a disdainful manner, but she has chosen to stand out from the crowd and create a niche for herself.
