LAGOS – Dana Air has been announced as the headline partner of the upcoming Pageant Conference set to take place on August 12, 2023, in Lagos. The airline’s involvement in the conference is aligned with its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Kingsley Ezenwa, Head of Corporate Communications at Dana Airlines, stated in a press release that Winfrey Agbelese, the Convener of the Pageant Conference, emphasized that the event aims to go beyond grooming aspiring beauty queens. It also seeks to establish a hub experience for the pageant industry, where relevant challenges within the sector are highlighted and discussed.
Agbelese noted, “The Pageant Conference 2023 is one of the many great plans and visions that we have at the Pageant Academy with regards to the development of the youth in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 5, 8, and 10.”
She explained that the primary goal is to enhance the overall pageant experience, performance, and representation of girls both locally and internationally. The conference also aims to create a networking platform for pageant organizers to share their expertise and enlighten aspiring participants about the pageant experience, while also providing opportunities for aspirants to connect and collaborate.
Kingsley Ezenwa highlighted that Dana Air is highly selective when choosing CSR projects or sponsorships and that this initiative aligns with the airline’s commitment to making a positive impact on Nigeria and its youth. He emphasized Dana Air’s youth-friendly brand and the aim of enhancing the performance of young women in both local and international pageants.
Ezenwa stated, “The concept is basically to help our girls perform better at both local and international pageants and by extension, place Nigeria on the global stage once again as the last time we had such a great outing was when Agbani Darego won Miss World.”
The Pageant Conference is expected to feature top industry facilitators including Ayo Fabamwo, Founder of Mr & Miss Ideal Nigeria; Santiago Seth Robeths, CEO of QHUE Concepts; Daniel Opuene, Founder of Beauty of Africa International Pageant; Nyekachi Douglas, Miss World Africa; and representatives from Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, among others.
