The Rural Women and Girl Child Initiative, a group committed to empowering women and girl child in the rural areas, has welcomed Mrs. Tina Banku Agbor, secretary to the government of Cross River State, to the ruling All Progressive Congress.
This is coming on the heels of her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling party on Sunday, in line and solidarity to the Governor, Ben Ayade who also defected over a week ago.
The Coordinator of the group, Ms. Theresa Ushie Akwaji while addressing newsmen in a press briefing in Abuja, urged Mrs. Agbor to be transparent and accountable as those qualities are the hallmark of the ruling party, stating that the defection was much more expected and very well appreciated.
Akwaji said “Our Organisation heartily welcomes and congratulate Mrs. Tina Banku Agbor, the very first female Secretary to the Executive Governor of Cross River State for her respectful decision to follow in line with her Superiors to formally defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) thereby being among the league of Progressive Personalities in Nigeria.
“Tina Banku is an Amazon, a seasoned lawyer, a mother, a bridge builder and a role model to women in our contemporary society. Her peaceful mien is much more needed and would be immensely valued in the All Progressive Congress.
“However I enjoin her to be transparent, committed and accountable because these are the hallmarks of the ruling part as I believe in good spirit that your defection will enrich our internal democracy, further strengthen the party and in all improve our administrative process in Cross River State.” She added.
The National Coordinator further stated that with the defections to the ruling party, Cross River State is headed in the most progressive direction and nothing can stop the movement.
