In a massive display of solidarity, tens of thousands of women and residents of Kano gathered at the Silver Jubilee roundabout on Sunday to seek divine intervention in support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The show of support aimed at influencing the outcome of the ongoing court tussle over the Kano gubernatorial election.
During the gathering, spokesperson Hajiya Salamatu Suleiman conveyed the group’s purpose, stating that they had assembled to conduct special prayers in solidarity with Governor Yusuf. The women fervently prayed to Almighty Allah, considering the Supreme Court as the last hope for a common man, expressing optimism that the verdict would be positive and in favor of Governor Yusuf.
Suleiman highlighted Governor Yusuf’s achievements, including clearing the backlog of retired husbands’ pensions, facilitating marriages for their daughters, timely salary payments, empowerment of People Living with Disabilities, and sponsoring children for master’s degrees abroad.
Beyond acknowledging these accomplishments, the women emphasized their collective prayer for peace in Kano State. Concerned about the signs of danger and the escalating political tension, they viewed prayer as a crucial element to address the current situation in the state.
The gathering underscored the significance of the Supreme Court’s decision in the ongoing legal dispute, with the women fervently hoping for a positive outcome that aligns with their aspirations for Governor Yusuf’s continued leadership.
