The Edo House of Assembly has officially recalled the two remaining suspended lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after a five-month suspension.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the assembly had initially suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) on May 6, due to an alleged plot to impeach the Speaker and other principal officers. Bright Iyamu was later recalled in June after showing remorse, as confirmed by Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.
During the plenary session in Benin on Wednesday, Agbebaku announced that the assembly had agreed to reinstate Okogbe and Isibor. He also congratulated the newly elected governor, Monday Okpebholo, on his recent victory in the governorship election. The Speaker emphasized that the governor represents all Edo citizens, not just the All Progressives Congress (APC), and expressed hope that he would not be misled by sycophants.
In addition to the recalls, the assembly approved a 57-sitting day calendar for the second quarter of its second session, acknowledging the lawmakers for their diligence in passing impactful bills and resolutions during their time away.
