The Edo State government, led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, has dismissed claims of being involved in a legal dispute with Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo.
Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser (media projects) to Governor Obaseki, clarified that reports suggesting the government’s initiation of a court case against the Oba of Benin are baseless and malicious.
Issuing a statement in Benin City on Thursday, May 9, Osagie labeled the circulating rumor as the handiwork of individuals seeking to undermine the state’s stability.
He emphasized that in the referenced matter, the Edo State Government is actually a defendant, not the plaintiff, indicating that the state is being sued.
Osagie affirmed the government’s strong bond with the Benin monarchy, underscoring the high regard in which they hold the Oba of Benin.
He urged both the public and residents of the state to disregard the unfounded reports entirely, dismissing them as fabricated rumors.
