- Pledges support for President’s vision of change
- Urges political opponents to desist from further gimmicks
- Ask youths to believe and assist FG in ensuring peaceful coexistence in the nation.
The Commandant General of the Nigerian Peace Corps, Mustapha Mohammed Abubakar, has commended President Buhari for his wisdom in meeting up with the yearning and aspirations of the Nigeria youths.
This is coming after the youths took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Mustapha who gave the commendation in a press briefing to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, decried the hoarding of Covid-19 palliatives meant for the citizenry, which led to breakage and looting of warehouses, and arson.
He said” The Nigerian Peace Corps was dumbfounded, bewildered and expressed her sympathy on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, when it discovered that the President acted promptly to mitigate in the management of Covid-19 pandemic for his loving people.
“It is disheartening, disgusting and exasperating to imagine the level of betrayal of some pundits in the political arena, who have resolved to drag the presidents name through the mud by hoarding the palliatives meant for distribution to cushion the hard effects of Corona Virus tagged Covid-19 pandemic.
“Recall that even at the highest provocation, the President Stood by the protesters by declaring that they have constitutional rights to protests. What can be more understanding and appreciative than for a president of a great nation like Nigeria, revered world over to give his support to his people protesting against a particular social Ill?
“We have resolved to stand strong as rock of Gibraltar behind the President to achieve his laudable program of change with a vision to taking away the youths from the streets by enhancing their livelihoods through job creation and continuous orientation in the need for peaceful coexistence.” He added.
The CG, however urged Nigerian Youths to always remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, hence the need to be wary of political opponents who are taking undue advantage of the situation at hand to cause mayhem as Nigeria requires planning, time, efforts, pain and patience to bring its dreams to perfection.
