Alvaro Morata has completed his transfer to AC Milan from Atletico Madrid, signing a four-year contract with the Rossoneri. The move comes shortly after the Spain striker celebrated winning Euro 2024 with his national team.
The 31-year-old Morata has agreed to a deal with Milan running until June 30, 2028, with an option for an additional year. Italian sources indicate that Milan triggered Morata’s release clause of 13 million euros ($14.2 million) and that he will earn approximately 4.5 million euros per season.
Morata played a pivotal role in Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign, featuring in every match and scoring once in their opening 3-0 victory over Croatia. He has tallied 36 goals in 80 international appearances for Spain.
This marks Morata’s return to Italy, where he previously enjoyed successful spells with Juventus. During his time with Juventus, he secured two Serie A titles and three Italian Cups. Additionally, he has won the FA Cup with Chelsea and contributed to Real Madrid’s Champions League victories in 2014 and 2017.
AC Milan, who finished second in Serie A last season, will start their new campaign under coach Paulo Fonseca with a match against Torino on August 17. Morata joins Milan as they look to strengthen their squad following the departure of Olivier Giroud, who transferred to Los Angeles FC.
