A devastating fire engulfed a section of the Embassy of Canada in Abuja on Monday, resulting in a tragic incident in which three individuals are feared dead.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire erupted during maintenance work on the embassy’s power generating plant, tragically claiming the lives of three technical crew members. One person managed to escape by climbing onto the roof of the power house, while others were forcefully expelled from the powerhouse due to the sudden and powerful explosion of flames.
The incident occurred at around 11:30 PM, prompting the immediate response of firefighting teams to extinguish the flames and carry out rescue operations.
Embassy staff sought refuge outside the embassy gates, and ongoing efforts were made to ensure their safety. An ambulance was also dispatched to evacuate those affected by the fire.
