On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the remand of Olu Agunloye, a former Minister of Power and Steel, in Kuje Prison. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had brought charges against Agunloye, accusing him of fraud related to the Mambilla Power Project.
Appearing before the court, Agunloye pleaded not guilty to the charges. However, the presiding judge issued an order for his remand in Kuje Prison until the determination of his bail application.
The charges brought against the ex-minister are related to alleged fraudulent activities in connection with the Mambilla Power Project. The case marks another development in the ongoing efforts by the EFCC to address corruption and financial misconduct in various sectors. As the legal proceedings unfold, Agunloye’s fate will depend on the court’s decisions regarding the charges leveled against him.
