The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, announced that while it is not yet election season, the party is actively working to secure President Bola Tinubu’s second term to ensure the continuation of his administration’s reforms and policies. Ganduje made this statement at the APC Professionals Forum Policy Roundtable Conference on the “Asiwaju Score Card Series” held in Abuja.
Ganduje lauded Tinubu’s leadership, stating that Nigeria is progressing with ongoing reforms across key sectors. He emphasized that the APC is restructuring to become a truly grassroots progressive party and is preparing to ensure electoral success in 2027. The party is focusing on maintaining its current governors and gaining new ones, along with securing another mandate for President Tinubu.
Ganduje revealed that the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) has directed state chapters to collaborate with their governors and stakeholders to establish fully functional offices in every political ward and state. This initiative aims to ensure continuous party activities, not limited to election periods. Additionally, the NWC has formed a committee to reconcile aggrieved party members, with similar committees to be set up at state, local government, and ward levels.
Dr. Aliyu Modibbo, Special Adviser to the President on General Duties in the Office of the Vice President, highlighted that the Tinubu administration’s policies are tailored to Nigeria’s unique circumstances. He outlined the administration’s eight-point agenda, which includes job creation, economic growth, food security, poverty eradication, access to capital, the rule of law, anti-corruption efforts, and inclusive development. Modibbo emphasized that these initiatives aim to make tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians, with specific programs targeting youth empowerment and support for vulnerable groups.
Dr. Isa Yuguda, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the APC Professionals Forum, noted that the roundtable aimed to review the first year of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He praised Tinubu’s decision to remove the petrol subsidy, citing a significant reduction in petrol importation since June 2023 and anticipating further declines with the upcoming operations of the Dangote Refinery and the resumption of production at the Port Harcourt and Warri Refineries.
