- Urges PTAD to respect the office and jurisdictions of GEICONN Nigeria Limited
The Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, on Monday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the recovery of monies belonging to the Federal Public Service Retirees.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, The President of the group Comrade Ogakwu, condemned the incessant act of the Pension Transitional Arrangements Directorate (PTAD) and other organs of government where these deductions were made, has refused to pay a single kobo to the associations account since inception.
Ogakwu reiterated that the association is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and also registered with the office of the Secretary of Austin, Texas in United States of America. All fabric Arms of the Federal Government recognizes the associations cooperate affairs.
Our investigations reveals that the association member agreed to be contributing 2% of monthly pension to enable them embark on cardinal programs after retirement. The office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation agreed for the deduction and legitimately deducted member’s contribution since 2008. Billions of naira contributed by members was misappropriated and not remitted to the association’s account up till now.
Members of the association had alleged that those vested with the management of the contributions had mismanaged the money and a panel of inquiry set up to deal with it while whopping amounts of money recovered at the cross section of the exercise were lodged with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), having three noble Nigerian personalities appointed as signatories. The personalities are;
- Ngozi Okonjo-Ewela, Ex-minister of Finance.
- Pius Ayim Pius Ex-Secretary to the Government.
- Chief Otunba Ex-Accountant General of the Federation.
Recall that Dr. Steve Orasanye a professional Chartered Accountant who emerged as Head of service had objected to the deduction, and also on the contrary queried the leftover of 1.5 Million Naira he met and authorized an immediate return to the appropriate beneficiaries.
Ogakwu, urge the Federal Government to call for the disbursement of the stagnant contribution money stolen and recovered equally lodged at the Central Bank of Nigeria to be released making it sufficiently available to jumpstart the association cardinal program. He also warned that (PTAD) should respect the office and jurisdictions of GEICONN Nigeria Limited which the association has appointed to exclusively represent them.
