In a tragic incident, heavily armed terrorists abducted 36 women and 14 men during an attack on Magizawa village in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The bandits, armed with guns, also killed three individuals, including a member of a local vigilante group, and injured five others. The attackers arrived at the village at night, shooting sporadically and instilling fear among the residents before conducting house-to-house searches to locate their victims.
Residents reported that despite the presence of a local vigilante group patrolling the village at night, the bandits outnumbered them, leading to the tragic outcome. There are suspicions among the residents that the attack may have been facilitated by informants within the community who provided useful information to the bandits, catching the vigilante group off guard.
No communication has been reported between the bandits and the affected families at the time of the initial report. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State and the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address the activities of armed groups in the region.
