No fewer than 100 residents of Oshodi-Ewenla Community, Ikorodu West Local Council Developmental Area on Thursday benefited from a free health outreach.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the outreach was organised to commemorate the birthday of Mr Abubakri Asoro, a National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Coordinator.
Asoro said that the outreach was to enable residents to ascertain their health status and get help where necessary.
He expressed delight that his birthday was an opportunity to put smiles on the faces of people, especially children.
The coordinator said that the outreach also saw the distribution of free school bags to some school children.
“Thirty school bags donated by an anonymous person were given to pupils in the area,” he said.
Mrs Omolala Adewunmi, who spoke on behalf of the donor of the bags, said that it was painful to see pupils going to school with polythene bags.
Adewunmi appealed to wealthy individuals in the society to imbibe the culture of giving and assisting the indigent school children.
She commended Asoro’s passion for humanity, and for considering the medical outreach as the best way to warm his heart on his birthday
