The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has assured Nigerians that the military is on track to overcoming the country’s current security challenges. Lagbaja made this statement during the closing ceremony of the COAS combined second and third quarters conference for 2024, held on Thursday in Uyo.
Lagbaja highlighted the positive feedback received from various army formations and commands nationwide. “The reassurance is based on the security briefings we received from different army formations and commands across the country,” he said. “The feedback from the commanders is encouraging, showing that while the security challenges are significant, they are surmountable, and we are on the right path to victory.”
The COAS reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s dedication to upholding the country’s constitution and promoting national interests and values. He emphasized the Army’s commitment to collaborating with sister services and other security agencies to ensure the safety and security of Nigerians.
Lagbaja also encouraged law-abiding citizens to continue supporting the government and security forces in their efforts to enhance national security and prosperity. He expressed gratitude to conference participants for their earnest contributions and confirmed that the secretariat had effectively documented the decisions made during the deliberations.
