Governor Kabir Yusuf of Kano has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his adept defense of Nigeria’s democracy in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the state’s gubernatorial election. Governor Yusuf commended President Tinubu for resisting considerable public pressure and upholding the people’s mandate, acknowledging the challenging circumstances amidst a massive crowd in Kano.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate and incumbent governor emphasized that the judiciary’s reputation was further solidified by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn his dismissal by the tribunal and Court of Appeal. He pointed out the attempts by certain individuals to hijack the hard-earned mandate of the Kano people.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude to the Justices of the Supreme Court (JSCs) for their commitment to justice, preventing the state from unforeseen challenges. He thanked the justices for delivering a fair judgment that redeemed their image and shed light on potential threats to the democratic process.
Highlighting the President’s refusal to interfere in the electoral process, Governor Yusuf conveyed the appreciation of Kano residents to President Tinubu for safeguarding democracy in the state. The governor expressed overwhelming emotions at the massive crowd that greeted their return, assuring the people that his administration would fulfill its promises in various sectors, including education, health, and empowerment.
Governor Yusuf declared the commitment of Kano’s leadership to delivering on the dividends of democracy, expressing gratitude to the people for their support during the challenging journey to uphold democratic principles.
