Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo: Marketing industry committed to creating value for good governance and economic growth
The Director-General of the Advertising Regulators Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, emphasized the role of marketing and ethics in nation building at the 2023 Annual Conference of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN). The conference focused on the theme of “The Role of Marketing and Ethics in Nation Building,” highlighting the importance of ethical marketing practices in enhancing Nigeria’s marketing economy.
Fadolapo emphasized the need for enforceable standards of practice that uphold ethical principles and protect the interests of various sectors within the industry. He stressed that responsible marketing practices are crucial for the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s economy. He acknowledged the contributions of NIMN in shaping the quality of marketing in the country and urged the industry to support reforms aimed at promoting responsible marketing practices.
Lolu Akinwunmi, the Group CEO of Prima Garnet Africa and past chairman of ARCON, presented a paper titled “The Roles of Marketing Communication and Ethics in Nation Building.” He highlighted the significant challenges faced by the Nigerian economy and the importance of diversification, infrastructure improvement, good governance, and addressing youth unemployment for sustained and inclusive economic growth. Akinwunmi emphasized the need for continued reforms and strategic policies to unlock Nigeria’s potential and drive the country towards a more prosperous future.
