Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, clarified the reasons behind the cancellation of their visit to the Microsoft AI center in India. This change in plans was attributed to mobility limitations during the ongoing G20 event, where the minister is part of the delegation accompanying President Bola Tinubu.
Despite the travel constraints, the Microsoft AI Director for Govt. Affairs and Public Policy, Sandeep Aurora, displayed great generosity by visiting the Nigerian delegation at their hotel. During this unplanned meeting, they engaged in fruitful discussions regarding the development of Nigeria’s National AI strategy.
Dr. Tijani shared photographs from their encounter, expressing gratitude for Sandeep Aurora’s commitment to fostering collaboration and support between Nigeria and Microsoft. They discussed Microsoft’s contributions to India’s AI initiatives and explored how the global AI team could assist in co-creating Nigeria’s National AI Strategy.
This unexpected interaction highlighted the importance of international partnerships and cooperation in advancing digital innovation and AI development in Nigeria. Despite the initial setback, the Nigerian delegation remains optimistic about the potential benefits of their collaboration with Microsoft in shaping the country’s AI landscape.
