Chief Ayo Opadokun, a prominent figure in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) and patron of the Association of Lagos State Artisans and Technicians, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing issue of unreliable power supply in Nigeria. He highlighted how power outages are adversely affecting businesses, artisans, and technicians, leading to decreased productivity and financial losses.
Speaking at the launch of Beamlight Solar Power Generators in Lagos, Opadokun emphasized the negative impact of inconsistent electricity on small and large enterprises. He noted that many artisans are struggling due to the inability to power their tools, which are essential for their work.
Opadokun remarked, “The challenges faced by artisans and technicians due to erratic power supply are severe. Their tools often sit idle because of the lack of electricity, which affects their income and productivity. The global shift towards renewable energy, particularly solar power, is crucial to addressing this issue.”
He pointed out that while fossil fuels negatively impact the environment, countries like China are leading in alternative energy solutions. “China contributes over 65% of the world’s alternative energy. We need to follow suit to mitigate our energy crisis,” he added.
Opadokun announced a partnership with a leading Chinese solar manufacturer, aiming to provide reliable solar power solutions to various sectors, including homes, schools, hospitals, and industries. “We are unveiling Beamlight Solar Power Generators today to offer a viable alternative to the unreliable power supply. These solar generators come in capacities of 5,000KVA and 2,000KVA and offer flexible payment plans,” he said.
He highlighted the benefits of the new solar generators, which include an 8-10 year lifespan for the lithium battery, making them a durable choice for users. “These generators can power offices, homes, and other facilities efficiently. They are portable and designed to meet various needs. Our solution is different from existing options due to its capacity and the quality of the lithium battery.”
Opadokun stressed the importance of providing artisans and small businesses with reliable power sources to improve their productivity and support their livelihoods.
