Napoli’s manager, Rudi Garcia, voiced his concerns over the injury setback faced by Victor Osimhen, acknowledging the Nigerian striker’s absence as a “significant setback for the team.”
Osimhen suffered a medium-grade biceps femoris lesion in his right thigh while representing the Super Eagles of Nigeria during international duty. Consequently, the 24-year-old will be sidelined for Napoli’s upcoming matches against Hellas Verona, Union Berlin (UEFA Champions League), and AC Milan.
Despite having other attacking options, Garcia emphasized that the absence of their key striker might pose challenges in securing victories. Napoli, the Serie A champions, who have only managed to secure four league wins this season, faced defeats against Real Madrid and Fiorentina before the international break, adding pressure on Garcia.
Presently, Napoli occupies the fifth position in the league table with 14 points from eight games. Addressing Osimhen’s injury, Coach Garcia expressed his thoughts to La Gazzetta dello Sport, stating that finding a solution in Osimhen’s absence was crucial.
“We require all our players in optimal condition, and Osimhen’s absence is undoubtedly a significant setback for the team,” he remarked. “He plays a pivotal role, and we must devise a strategy to compensate for his absence.”
