The National Examinations Council (NECO) has clarified that there has been no extension to the closing date for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal registration. In a statement released in Abuja on Thursday, Mr. Azeez Sani, the Acting Director of the Directorate of Information and Digital Communication at NECO, emphasized that the registration process commenced on December 18, 2023, and is scheduled to conclude on June 3, 2024.
Sani further explained that any registration beyond the stipulated deadline would be considered as late registration, subject to an additional late registration fee. Late registration will be permitted from June 4 to June 10, as stated by NECO.
Addressing concerns raised by social media posts claiming an extension of the registration period until June 20, NECO urged candidates, school principals, commandants, state ministries of education, and other stakeholders to disregard such misinformation.
It’s important to note that the 2024 SSCE Internal examinations are set to commence on June 19 and conclude on July 26. Candidates will undergo assessments in 76 subjects during the examination period.
NECO’s clarification aims to ensure that all stakeholders are accurately informed about the registration process and timelines, thus avoiding confusion and unnecessary delays.
